Guatemala was my last trip before Covid hit, and to date I rate it as the most underrated country I have been to. Lake Atitlan was breathtaking and so was Flores and Tikal. The people were so nice and the food was amazing too. Why this country isn't more well known in travel circles is a puzzle.

Hi, thank you for your fantastic videos. I am planning an extended trip around South America next year. I am from the UK and diabetic so I will need to renew my prescription whilst there a number of times. Not sure how easy this will be. Any tips please? Is medication expensive? Good luck with your travels ❤ Lisa.
South America next year sounds amazing! In our experience so far, medication in Mexico and Guatemala have been more affordable than we are used to in Canada. It's been a few years since we were in South America, but I recall regular medications like acetaminophen and ibuprofen being quite affordable. We don't have experience with prescription medications in South America unfortunately as we never got any during out travels there.
Let's make those police officers go viral because they shouldn't be asking people for anything. That is a crime and should be punished so that this doesn't continue to happen.
I had a different impression since 9000 migrants pass them weekly. Made me feel sad. If I had food I would have totally given it to them. Must be a hard place to be.

We actually just both sit in the car and Mico flies the drone while I (Nicole) drive the car. It can be tricky, so we always make sure we're in a quiet area going low speeds, but so far it's really paid off. We love the shots of the car going through these incredible places!
whoah, so glad we did not try driving our RV over the border into Guatemala! We were thinking of doing that for a visa run but now we park it in Oaxaca and fly out to Tijuana for a few days.
Advice I was given: Even if you're fluent in Spanish, pretend like you don't understand it when confronted by the police. Most often, they'll just wave you on. You're not worth the hassle.
We can definitely see how someone would give that advice! We have found it really helps to reduce our Spanish skills during these police encounters. In this case we really did have a hard time understanding the officer, so we weren't really having to play down our Spanish very much 😅
In our experience, South America has so many incredible places to visit. It's a special continent in that each country has something truly unique and incredible like Machu Picchu, Patagonia, the Salt Flats, the Amazon, etc. We loved SA!

Curious - when you got to the mall, you said you had burned through all the money you exchanged at the border - $400 US?? Gas, air b-n-b, food….what cost so much? Thanks :) 😊
Oh no! We didn't exchange all $400, we just exchanged $50 or so.
